Following is a guideline for the most common contaminants that we deal with, and the systems used. Web sites serve to provide detailed information about the systems and how they work.
Iron, hardness, sulfur, taste and odor, acid water - we custom design your system depending upon the combination of these contaminants. The general system consists of a backwash filter with a multiple media.
Bacteria (coliform and e.coli and iron/sulfur bacteria) - we use ultraviolet sterilizers and chlorinating systems.
Arsenic - a semi-metal element in the periodic table. It is colorless, odorless and tasteless. It enters drinking water supplies from natural deposits in the earth or from agricultural and industrial practices.
- Adedge Technologies - this company has developed a proprietary ferric oxide, which works on the principal of absorption.
- npXtra by SolmeteX - this company uses a resin in an one-time recyclable exchangeable cylinder.
- Resintech - a manufacturer of resins. We use one of their strong base anion or hybrid resins for reducing arsenic.
Nitrates - we use an anion resin which is salt regenerated, similar to a water softener. This is for whole house use. The other method is reverse osmosis, usually for point of use (drinking water).
Salt water - the only method to remove salt (sodium chloride) from water is reverse osmosis.
Sand - the types of filters used for sand are bag filter, screen or mesh, or a separator.
Sediment - we use a basic backwash filter or a bag filter or a pleated cartridge filter.
